I am looking for better protection for my boat. I currently have a canvas cover on it (on the side of the house) but would like something to better protect it from snow build up. I am thinking about one of those metal carports like in this pic.

Does anyone have any experience in purchasing these? How much for something like a 10’x20’? Where did you get it? How do you anchor it? Any info is appreciated. Can you get anything like it at HomeDepot/Lowes?

Re: Need better protection

They offer adequate protection, but the big box stores here in TX don't carry them...may be different in Nevada, though. Around here the starting price ranges from $575 to $675 for a basic one-car cover. You can bolt them down to concrete, like an existing slab, or sink four corner concrete piers and bolt them to that. Creativity is the only limitation when it comes to anchoring. Keep your eyes open when you're driving around...that's when I always see the signs for them.

I was down in Virginia on business a couple of years ago and they had these shelters everywhere. I was hoping to find one Canada for my boat in winter and my car in summer when at the cottage.

As with most Canadian retail, we don't get them. I thought they would be great.

Joe
