We are in the market for our first boat - to use traveling around and between nearby Caribbean islands. We had been considering 24' to 27' bow riders; specifically the Chaparral and Formula boats. Local folks are saying that boats with outboard motors are better here since some of the waters are shallow. Does anyone have experience and a good recommendation at to boat, motor and size?

you do not want a lake boat for coastal boating. Listen to the locals

Your size range is pretty good ... maybe look at a dual console, walk-around or a center console type. They seem to be built more for big water boatin'.

Welcome aboard.

You need to walk down to a couple of marinas and see what everyone else in those waters are using. This is the
WRONG forum for that question.

If that's the style you're interested in, Look into Intrepid. Center console AND a walk-around cuddy in one. Hard top, AC, genset, etc.
