Guys, I had just bought my first boat a few years ago...87 Chris Craft Caviler with a Johnson 140 VRO. I offically ran the power head to death this summer sold the boat on e-bay and now looking for the next one. I wanted your opinion, I am an avid striper fisherman and I am looking at a 1988 21' Bayliner Trophy with twin 85 Force motors. I am going to call today. The guy has it listed for 6500 but I am going to offer 4k (force motors not so good). What do you guys think of the set up?? history of the boat? Is that enough room to fish of of?? If the motors have good comperssion is there any other questions I should ask?

Pretty good boat for fishing !!!! Pretty crappy choice of motor let alone 2 of them.If you killed a Johnson,I cant even imagine what you would do to a Force.Charlie

Seems to me you the offer you are considering is about $4,000.00 to high. Might ask him what he would pay you to take it off of his hands.

Have to agree with everyone else here. Those motors will likely give you problems till the day you get rid of them!

the boat sounds nice ,but like everyone else said, force is not the way to go.If i liked the boat i would offer no more than 3000,chances are he knows he's going to have problems unloading a boat with that junk on the transom.

no personal experience with force engines, but i hear what others say. i'd price the boat with options and goodies, then add maybe $500 for the power. see what that brings the price to, and offer it. if you get a season or two out of the engines, you got your money's worth. you can then repower with a single 150-200hp engine.

I had great luck with the Force 85. One thing
to keep in mind is fuel economy. You'll be
feeding six carbs. Gulp Gulp.

Hmm, first post, and it's got the words "Bayliner" and "Force" in it. The return of a former member using a new identity? Sorry Striper 69, but you're asking somewhat of a loaded question here. I've heard nothing good of Force motors.

Thanks for the help. I have to admit I figured I would get these responses. Yes, I know BAYLINER and FORCE...what I rookie I must have looked like. Anyway, I was thinking about the repowering scenario. Anyway, I guess I will keep my options open. Just a another quick one, if I where to inheret such a fine quality motor as a FORCE engine, I heard immediatly running high octane above 90 and running quality TCW-3 oils are very helpful prolonging the life of the motor. Is that correct?
