The carbs were rebuilt last year and now the HC is telling me they need to be done again. If I'm an amateur mechanic can I do it myself? I don't have the $656 to do the 4 carbs and the thought of it sitting all summer makes me sick. I have a Solec manual for a 2 stroke 1984 mercury--75HP. Can I use that manual to do it? Please help....desparate!

**I have to throw it in Reverse at the dock to keep it running, but after that it runs fine in the open water and cranks fine. However, it will not idle without cutting off when waiting for an open dock at the landing**

Yes you can do it your self, paying close attention to how they all come apart and do not interchange carb parts. I don't believe a Mercury manual will help you with a Suzuki motor. Are you saying it does not run at idle at any time? If so you may have a pluged pilot jet.

I had to crank it about 8 times waiting for an open dock. The boat runs perfect out in the open water, just have problems at the initial startup and when trying to idle in. We're going to clean the jets and see what happens. The mechanic at the marine shop tested the fuel, fuel system, and then took the boat to the lake and did some carb adjustments before determining the carbs needed to be rebuilt.

I'm convinced the jets just need cleaning though, otherwise it wouldn't run like new in the open water.

Also how can I tie-in Seafoam to this process? Currently it has no Seafoam in the gas tank and there's about 8 gallons of 100% gas (no ethanol).

Cleaned the jets and ran a strong Seafoam mixture through then filled the tank with 1.5 ounces of Seafoam per gallon. Idles fine now, but I still have to throw it in reverse at the dock to get it started. The bulb won't stay firm so I'm going to replace the fuel line assembly and see if that solves the problem.
