Need design ideas - support bar for standing while steering a tiller alum skiff

I saw a pic of a guy standing while operating an open alum tiller skiff with a throttle extension. He had a support bar for the right hand and it looked to be a comfortable position to stretch the legs. Only his support was an ugly setup bolted to the top of the seats.

I want something about waist high and removable but strong enough to act as support while I'm gripping it. Ideas anyone? I have a 16' lund ssv.
