first year boat owner and this forum has helped with electrical and other questions and I appreciate it very much. Now I need your help more than ever. I had a soft spot in deck and decided to end the boating season alittle early. I have a 1989 rinker I/o open bow. the soft spot was between the passenger jumper seat and rear seat beside the engine. I tore out the carpet and found it was rotten about 2 feet by 2 feet and the same on the other side just smaller. I read alot of threads on decks and found out to check the foam. well mine was saturated so I cut out the wholr deck up to the open bow and removed the foam. the stringers and transom are in great shape. now my questions I have. I have read alot of threads but I am a newbie and need deck replacement for dummies...
1. when I cut out the deck it went all the way to the side except a couple of inches in the rear but up by the bow it was 6-8 inches from the side . i laid a board across the back and it sat fairly level but close to the front it was 1/4 inch from the floor. I followed the original deck when cutting it out and there is alot of glass attached to the front. Do i cut or grind the old glass all the way to the side where the new deck will meet the floor or put it back the same size deck as original?
2. in the back beside the engine where another platform is made and the battery sits do you grind the wall smooth and what is the process to build another platform and seat. I left the inside wall of platform and the top seamed to be stapled to the inside plywood and the other two sides are attached to the walls how do I do this. remember you are talking to a dummie
3. I just need the steps broke down where I can understand it and the materials I need the process it takes. please help, this the best site to get the right answers..... thank you
