need engine help and installing engine part PLEASE

Hello am new to this i search around and couldnt find the same problem. I attached a few photos. i need help installing this new part which by the way i dont no what it is. Can some one explain what it is. Am new to boats am a good mechanic but not boat wise, Also could you explain where the 2 wires go that are coming from the blue body of this cylinder? Also can someone tell me what type of engine this is size???? thank you

That is a starter and relay and solenoid for a Ford V8. The Driveline is OMC with Ford based Marine engine, OMC says 240HP. The engine is probably a 351 cubic inch.

Is this a test?

Hahaha no just new to boats just looking at what am dealing with, I didn't think that part was a starter.

Also where do I install it at? Also where do I connect the 2 wires that have the connector at the end coming from starter?

Looks a little small to be the starter (I know mines' bigger than that). Looks more like a trim or tilt motor for a Stringer. What year is the drive?

Yeah, too small for starter, I flunked.

That might be a selectrim pump/motor. It mounts near the front motor mount and moves the engine up and down.

It's definitely a trim motor. The 2 solenoids on it means the motor spins it both directions.

It would really help if you posted a year? Model(if possible) and any other info you could find.
OMC made a LOT of different setups over the years.(most not very successful)

outdrive is a 981918
Omc 240
Paper work says its a 1978 cobalt

So, the picture that Bt Dr posted with the arrow shows you already have one of those mounted on your front engine mounts. Is this a spare one you were holding in your hand?

I bought thia boat off an older couple all the guy told me is this part goes right there I didnt have time to see and he just said to replace it but I don't see the blue cylinder anywhere on the engine right now that's what threw me off guard

I also follow the cables and understand where they connect I just dont have a clue where thr 2 floating wires from the blue cylinder hook up to.

Ayuh,.... I believe they go to the two big empty studs on the solenoids mounted to it,....

Alrighty I will tie them into those... does it matter which one goes where? Pretty sure black goes to all the other ground ones and the other one should go to the empty one..

When I looked there was nothing there I didnt see the blue cylinder looking thing on the engine block I looked and looked and there wasn't one there that's why it was kind of odd to me so I posted this question.
