Need Gas Filter?

I recently bought a 2004 Glastron Bowrider with a Volvo 130 I/O. It does not have a gas/water filter/ The mechanic suggested I install one to prevent future problems. I use Marine Stabil with the gas. Is this a good idea to be safe from future problems with gas issues? Thanks for your help.

yes! I'd go for an all metal fuel/water separator/filter, seasense as well as others make them. (plastic/glass ones aren't safe for inboard engine use.)
