I have a 1972 25hp, Evenrude outboard motor that I messed up the sparkplug threads in, and I'm having trouble finding a new or used head for. I've tried to rethread them and that doesn't work to well. Can anyone please tell me where I can get another head for this motor or where to look? Thanks for the help.

John,

Any auto parts store that does Machine Shop service, should be able to Hielcoil it for you. Very inexpensive and quick!

Yes, a helicoil is the way to go. It’s easy and you should be able to do it. The coils with installation tool costs under $50 might even be around $30. Most auto parts stores have them. Good luck!

I agree with the heli-coil. Had it down on a 69' Johnson. Worked like a champ and is still holding up to this day.
