I have a 1986 90 hp inline 6 s/n A934952. The problem is it will not idle after running for a while on the water. The longer im on the water, the hotter it gets and it gets harder to start. When it starts it runs great and tops out at 5000 rpm's wot. But put into nurtral it will stall every time. Compression is 135 to 140 all cyl. The primer bulb will get hard first time i start motor but goes soft and stays soft the rest of the day. Also the motor will trim up but i have to press trim down several times to get it to trim down, i do hear a click when i press the down. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHERE TO START? THANKS

Test your stator, trigger, switchboxes, and coils with a dva tester. Do it cold then do it when it's warmed up and see if your losing voltage.
The trim could be a dirty connection or a solenoid goig bad.
Primer bulb doesn't maintain hardness like when it is first pumped up, that's normal.

Loosing pressure on the bulb could be carbs slightly flooding at rest fouling the plugs, causing hard starting or the fuel pump diaphragm has a pin hole or stretched resulting in low fuel pressure. The trim problem could be the motor as this is a 3 wire unit, check the solenoid first as suggested.
