hi and thank you first of all i would like to say upfront that i do not know a lot about boats or motors this is the problem i am having with my 88 spl i had it out for three days straight ran about 4 tanks of fuel through it and used only evinrude oil have changed lower unit oil and cleaned fuel filter which was not dirty at all sorry for telling a whole story but on the forth day out i was idiling down the no wake canal to enter the main lake boat was fine of the trailer and down the canal once on main lake temp was at about 140 normal no vibration or erattic idle i went to give it wot and it just fell on its face and could not reach 5000 rpm went to about 3200 then to 3500 surging like hell never did die i changed fuel tanks thought about bad gas i had my partner run the boat while i was pumping the ball no effect at all i then thought about fuel problem like bad fuel line or what not so i switched over to my 9.9 evinrude same gas different motor ran fine no problems on either tank so i have rulled out line and gas tanks 88 wil idle and run just no power and it surges and never reaches proper rpm i talked to a couple marinas they all said coil pack or power pack but how can i be sure and know which it would be if any at all so any info or suggestions would be great and thanks again. well hope u guys can help because im lost and the nearest dealer is about 100 miles from me oh and i am a ase mechanic on gm cars and trucks so i no somethings about motors just not 2cycle lol
