My 35 Johnson (1983) had been running fine, it died out suddenly while under full throttle. The water pump was working, it didn't overheat. When I pull the starter rope its quite hard to pull and jerky.
I changed the head gasket already, and it pulls over smooth with the head off or the plugs out. The compression is 120 on the top cylinder and 115 on the bottom. I'm not sure I want to tackle the bottom end if its going to be tricky, I might have to take it to the shop.
Any ideas on what the problem might be, and how hard would it be for an average backyard mechanic to repair it?
