I have a 1990 four winns freedom with an OMC Cobra 3 Liter. I had a new shift cable put in the boat and when it took it out on the lake the ESA was not disengaging (the motor was bogging) So I did the quick fix and reach back there and put a small bend in the metal arm (I know it wasn't the right thing but the morning was perfect for fishing) Anyway, then it was hard as hell to shift from forward to reverse because the ESA wasn/t kicking in. I need to know how it should be set. When the micro switch is pressed in is that engine cut off position or does that mean the ESA is not engaged. Any help would be appreciated, the ice is going to melt in a couple of months and I want to be ready.

Thanks.
Mike

Re: need help adjusting ESA.

Follow the above advice....it's worth it's weight in gold. I owned a boat with this package....missadjusted, it will drive you crazy. Take the time to do it right, and she'll purr like a kitten.
