need help after i sank my boat : (

hi,<br /> i was at a lake near my home and a punk on a jet ski crashed in front of me (like 10 yards) so i veer off and hit a bouey and it shears off the aeretor hose on the left side of the boat and the rest is history. the boat went under but my motor never did, it stayed on top of the motor the whole time.'85 115 evinrude vro v4.it has no spark at all i drained the gas and oil and replaced.now its not etting fire at all. what are some things i can try thanx.

did you kill the engine before the electrics got wet?<br /><br />if not, you may have fried your powerpack.. a pricely piece of kit.. did you bash the jetskier? I hate them, they always go flying past the boat ramp a meter behind my boat when I am trying to put it on the trailer, they should have a season for it.. <br /><br />Jetskier seaeson, no bag limit.<br /><br />rgds<br /><br />Frank

Texas_Fisherman... You say the engine didn't go under, but I assume that the engine instrumment wiring harness with the key switch went under. This would effectively short out the ignition system. Remove the s/plugs and rig up some kind of spark tester. Disconnect the large main "Red" electrical plug at the engine, then crank the engine using a jumper wire from the battery side of the starter solenoin to the small terminal on the solenoid (not the small ground wire). If you now have spark, the problem is in the dash (ignition switch end) end of the wiring harness.<br /><br />If you still have no spark, disconnect the black/yellow wire from the powerpack(s) and try again. If spark exists now, there is a short in the engine wiring harness, usually at the "Red" plug connector. Let me know what you find.
