Help,
I have an 89 Evinrude 40 Electric start but it will not start with the starter.

I took it to the lake last weekend and the motor ran fine, but when i got ready to head home the boat would not start, I thought dead battery. Charged the battery and put it on the muffs and tried it in the driveway, ran fine. Went and picked up a deep cell battery today and put it in the boat was planning on going to the lake in a couple of hours. But cranked fine and i let off the key and tried again and it wouldn't do it. It acts as though its too much compression or something. But it will start fine with a rope. I checked the connections of the battery cable at the battery and at the motor. also checked the connection of the hot wire to the starter and can see no corrosion or anything. Is there something somewhere else that could of got jarred loose last week while i was out?????

Help i really want to get some crappie.

Thanks in advance,

Eric

Clean all the battery, solenoid, starter wire connections and the ground wires also.Even with a new batt the cables ends could be glazed over and corroded.clean em all and get back good or not.
