Need help! Bravo 3 - what are these parts?

After removing my Bravo 3 out drive, 2 small stainless plates dropped from the upper portion of the housing.
What are these and where do they go?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Damaged, in that they can't be reused? And where do they go?

Can't reuse. They are supposed to have rubber on them. Usually it means they got really hot from exhaust without water.

Makes sense. Did a little Googling and learned a bit more about them.
Thanks to your replies you got me steered in the right direction.

if the flappers are gone, most likely the rubber exhaust hoses are burnt too.

Those parts used to be the internal parts to the exhaust 'shutters' which looked like this



Those pieces that you have go in the trash. Time to buy new ones and install them. I am finding that they last only a few years
