need help deciding on Johnny 130

Im going to buy another stratos but it has a 1995 130hp Johnson on it and I have no clue on a johnson motor. Is this a good motor? should i stay away? what should i look for? Imput would be great thanks

My last Johnson was a 125 hp cross flow engine I bought in '72. Had the boat for about 6 or 7 years and only changed the plugs and lower unit fluid (electric shift) once per year. Used it in freshwater waterskiing and fishing. No problems.<br /><br />Mark

i have found johnson to be a very reliable outboard. most outboards are good with the proper maint.

Hi cruzinchubby,<br /><br /> I have a 1995 130 i like it a lot Lott's of power. make sure the compression is around 100 psi or more, and should be close to 10 % of each-other check water pump . Good luck.. Claude
