Ok so I was dicking around with my throttle and shift cable adjustment today and I knocked off the linkage assembly that connects the solenoid choke to the lever that opens up the butterfly valves inside the carburator. This linkage assembly was connected to the butterfly assembly by a yellow retainer clip. Whether it rolled underneath the engine or flew off in an unknown direction I can't find this clip to reattach the linkage. I have ordered the replacement part off the internet to fix the issue but I AM GOING FISHING TOMORROW and I'm hoping someone can brainstorm a rube goldberg quick fix using something I can pick up in a hardware store. I tried a zip tie but it is too tight and prevents the automatic choke from opening the doors in front of the carberator let alone the butterflys within. Anyone have any ideas? As a last resort I will just use a big stick and push the assembly to open the valves while I start the engine. I'd rather not have to have the cover off the engine tho. Also I'm pretty sure of the answer to this question but is this the reason the engine isn't starting or should I be looking at something else?

Not sure if this matters but this is a 1974 Johnson 135 hp outboard. THanks for any replies!
