Need Help Finding a Manual

I have a 2003 4.3L and can't find a manual to match in the index. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Post the SN of your engine. Along with the type of drive, carbed or EFI etc. Mercruiser does not list things by year after 1998.

serial #: M378066

It is a carb motor with an Alpha drive.

With that serial number, you have a 1998 engine, not a 2003.
Here is what I show from the dealer program.
The way this program works, is you put in your serial number and it will give you the model number.

Then you can use the model number to locate the year from the next section.

So, would they put a 98 model i na 2003 boat? Or is it just classified as a 98-up? Can you tell the HP rating?

I doubt a manufacturer would put a 98 motor in a 2003 boat. But I also have no idea what make boat you have.
Most likely the engine was damaged/destroyed and a 98 used engine was found to replace it. Not uncommon, many DIYers on this site find used engines and install them to replace one that went bad.

The manual you want is #25 from the adults only sticky.

Thanks Don for all your helpI I have a 2003 Glastron SX-195. If I give you all three serials, can you tell if it as a match? the boat only has 37 hours on it and in immaculate shape...does not sound or look like a like a transplant. I wonder if there is a Glastron look-up using the H.I.N.?

Your best bet would be to call Glastron with your HIN number and your engine and drive numbers and see if they match up with what was in the boat from the factory.
Lots of hurricane damaged boats in the south with good engines and drives, along with many good hulls with water damaged engines and drives. Think about the possibilities of swapping things to get a good boat, then sell for a profit.

This is an unusual situation to where it makes it hard to find your service manual.

With your situation in trying to find the correct service manual for your engine with your engine serial number I'm going to recommend that you call Mercruiser directly at 405-743-6566 and ask them to look up what service manual you need for your engine.

I know I can take a guess at what manual is correct for your engine, But to be honest it would only be a guess.

The manual number that comes up for your engine serial number number (32) is incorrect because that covers EFI and your engine has a carburetor(correct)???

My belief is, it will be number 25, But you should call for a second opinion.

All the numbers match up to a 2003 SX 195 BR GLASTRON.

That is sad that a manufacture is using 5 year old engine packages in boats.

It's not even a question which manual, it's number 25 for a 98 engine, and number 14 for the drive and transom shield. I just have a problem with the year difference from a boat sold as a new boat in 2003 having a 1998 engine and drive package.

You are correct, the engine was made on 09/13/2002

Carbed engines should be 190 hp.

MPI's was 220ish hp

If you look at what Boat Tech posted (Below) and look at the part circled in red, you will see that the engine is (or should I say MADE TO) 98 specs, and the part circled in blue shows that the engine made to 98 specs was built in 2002 and put in a 2003 boat, which is very common.
IF, that is what was done, then manual 25 is the one you need. The engine block itself is the same rather 98 or 04 or whatever. It's all about the accessories. Since the accessories are the same as a 98, then then 25 is your manual, and parts list.
