Hello!

I have a Chrysler 70 HP 707HA, 3 cylinder outboard motor.

It ran great last year but I had to put some work into "making" the points work to get it through the summer.

No biggie, just going to replace them this spring. Right? Wrong.

I carefully researched and ordered the correct points, but they will not in my distributor.

Here are the points that I ordered....

Can someone help me to find the correct ones?

Below are images of the old/new points. I snapped off one end of the old ones, so I drew what was missing with paint :)

Thank you in advance!

Okay, obviously the new points are not the correct set for your engine. If you're sure they sent you the proper part number and didn't get them mixed up, you could either look for some other brand or buy another set for verification. But then you also could drill and tape the base plate to use them. I know that doesn't sound like a really good idea, but for that engine, you may have to improvise... Just an idea that will work if you have to do that... :noidea:

Just go to Franz at franzmarine@aol.com. The same points were used for all 3 and 4 cylinder Chrysler engines including first generation electronic ignition so no doubt. he will have a set.

If you want to spend a little more time and money, convert the engine to Motorola Magna-Power ignition. It will run better. No modifications are necessary besides mounting the Motorola CD box, Voltage regulator, and changing a couple of wires.
