I have the serial number, but cant seem cross reference back to the exact model or year. The serial number/model plate is missing. I took this number off the freeze plug. G2586637 I'm not sure if that is the correct number...???

Unfortunately the number of G2586637 tells us nothing... BUT... I've been told that some boaters have called the techs at Bombardier and they have been able to translate what year and horsepower it belongs to... worth a try?

Normally the plate/decal is on the port side transom bracket or a heavy duty decal on the top portion of the engine's swivel bracket, or also the core plug of the engine which you have already stated.

Other than the above, I would think that you would need to post various pictures of the engine. On this topic.... the paint job on the hood is never duplicated from one year to another... never! Some good pictures of the hood/cowl (if not repainted) will reveal exactly what your engine is.

on some motors I have found a freeze plug that has the actual MODEL #...that matches what was put on the sticker on the transom bracket....it is possible that on a lot of motors that plug might be covered by other motor parts though!!!!!!!!!!

th
...found this PIX on the net to show what I am talking about

Thank Bob and Joe. The engine has been repainted as well as the bracket. I'm thinking a late 80's early 90's Evinrude 200HP. I'll post a few pics...
