Engine is a 1979 Mercury 70hp 3 cylinder outboard. Engine serial #5467211
Part is #77025 - Nylon Throttle Actuator - it's on the Throttle control linkage and spark advance page of the parts guide.
The part is also used by 50hp, 60hp, and 65hp Mercury outboards of that time period.
I have been working for quite a while - more than a year - on restoring this engine. It's my first one, so I have learned a lot as I go. After rebuilding the powerhead with new pistons, rings, gaskets, seals, rebuilding the carbs, water pump, fuel pump, etc., this weekend I am putting it all together and noticed this cam actuator was broken. Yes, next time I'll examine even the smallest part before beginning, but I didn't think about parts not being available. I tried making it stronger with epoxy, but a few pulls on the throttle lever and it broke again. Tried epoxy again, broke again.
I've tried google search, ebay, writing to used part places - anything I can think of and I can't find the part anywhere
Does anyone have any leads I could follow?
If I can't find the part, what do I do? I have a large paper weight with $1,000 of new parts.
