i have a 25 ft 1980 cobia, it has been striped down. i need to rewire it, install new streering linkage. anyways the main thing i want to do is i have twin 200 yamahas i want to install on the transum. and there is one bad spot on the deck i need to repair.

now my questions are the motors are heavy that they tilt the whole boat up when we set them on. how do i fix this problem? and can i just fill in the transum? or do i need some kind of bracket and steel reinforcment? and what kind of streering linkage would i need. also the whole boat needs a new coating of paint? and im unsure of how to repair the bad spot on the deck, its about a 1foot spot where the seat bots down someone cut it a long while back anyways what materials do i need to fit that?

any help at all would be great thanks!

What is the max hp rating for the boat? That is the place to start.

On the bad spot on the deck - Can you post a picture? Often what starts out as a 1' soft spot turns out to be a bad deck, stringers and transom when you do a thorough inspection.

what Solittle said, that's what happened to me, that pesky 1' soft spot

Or you mount those big motors without fixing the problems and they end up at the bottom of the lake.... probably not still attached to the boat.

all the more reason to be concerned about rot and wet foam underneath. if you look around you will see most of the boats with twin bigger engine use one of the engineered motor mount attached to the stern of the boat.
