I recently installed a new deck in a 1990 Bayliner I bought along with some custom seating I made. Long story short, I am an idiot and did not pull the gas tank out (it looks brand new from above), and upon finishing the project, I poured 3 gallons in to test the motor, 3 minutes later, motor wouldnt start, no gas... Open the ski locker, three gallons of gas in the bilge from a hole in the bottom of the aluminum tank...
So I cut out the floor above the tank along with part of the seating in order to pull the tank and put in a new 21 gallon Moeller tank. The tank I put in was 12 inches shorter than the original tank, so I ended up with a 12"
x24"x6" deep void behind the tank. I decided to use this space for storage, so I used pink foam board, cloth, and polyester resin and glassed it all in. I wasnt aware polyester would eat some of the pink foam board. The edges and inside of the space are pretty uneven. Is there something like bond that would work like putty to fill in all the voids and sags to get at least a decently smooth finish before I paint it????
