is there any way to find out yr of motor via the web? the moter is a johnson 9.9 hp model# 9r73b ser# j3758728 just purchased my first alum fishing boat (rookie)

thanks! will be going to pick up some parts and a manual. looking forward to changing impeller. water seems to be spitting out instead of streaming from cooling system. Also motor dies out at low idle any sugestions?

Nothing wrong with that. Most of us has been new to this. <br /><br />There was only a few year when the mfg year was included in the model number.Feel free to ask anything about your engine in this section. Just keep your questions in the right section and we all be happy to help.<br /><br />Maybe this site is of some interest:<br /> http://www.pugetsoundanglers.org/Fishing Info/Johnson 9.9_15.htm <br /><br />It is about "Maintaining Johnson/Evinrude 9.9 & 15 hp outboards 1974 – 1992". Even if yours is a 1973. A manual covering your model is a great help.<br /><br />Good luck!
