need help i am lost

1998 70 hp johnson runs ruff when idling will stall if you put it in gear, have to jump on gas so it wont stall seems to run good at high speed.<br />Checked the spark look good. I checked it with inline tester it lit. Sprayed carb cleaner in the carbs. it seem to want to stall when i was spraying it in on the top two but the bottom had no change. <br /><br />The boat dr has a 4 week wait, need to fish<br /><br />thanks jimcav

Egads. If spraying carb cleaner into the bottom carb while the motor was running had no effect then that cylinder might not be getting any fuel at all. I don't know much about oil injected motors, but I know it can't be good to run it in such a condition. Wait'll someone familiar with the newer motors comes along before you run that motor any more - skip fishing until you fix whatever's wrong. Got a compression test guage?

Check the spark to that bottom cylinder again. That spark has to jump about a 1/2 inch gap when cranking. If the spark is strong, try mixed fuel in a spray bottle to that bottom carb, next would be a compression test. Spraying carb cleaner into the carb throat will accomplice nothing.
