Need help identifying a 1972 Slickcraft SS215

I just got a 1972? Slickcraft SS215 cuddy... The serial number says SS215 with no hull numbers. I understand from other threads I've seen that hull numbers weren't introduced till 1973-74.. Can anyone tell me if this in in fact a 1972? And how I might go about registering it? The gentleman I got it from said he had it registered in his name about 5 years ago but cant find the old registration and is not being very helpful. I am in Massachusetts. The boat has a Merc 250 straight six..

HINs became mandatory in November 1972. I had a '72 Starcraft, and it had a HIN affixed to the transom.

I suppose your Slickcraft could have been made in early 1972, or, it could be older then that.

Thank you spoilsofwar, I just got ahold of the owners registration, and it's a 1970.. Luckily the state "assigned" HIN is on it so I am now awaiting a duplicate title from the RMV which should take about a week..
