Need help identifying Evinrude Outboard with Power Tilt and Trim

When I bought this outboard, the previous owner told me it was an 88 model but I can't find any numbers on it. I think the power tilt and trim arn't origional but can't be sure.

The electric motor on the tilt and trim unit needs new brushes and I need to order parts for the engine soon. Any help with identifying the engine and tilt/trim would be greatly apreciated.

Ill assume that the id tag on the port stern bracket is removed, but how about the welch plug? It is about the size of a quarter, and will be located on the top, rear of the head. It should contain the model number.

it appears to be an 4 cylinder V4 88 or premix 90 hp. you model and serial # are on the silver plug. post #'s we can tell you.

I don't have the motor with me and I won't be able to look at it until thursday but does the picture below have the plug you are talking about?

BTW, it dosn't look like there was ever an id tag on the port stern bracket. There are no holes or signs of one being there.

L = 20 inch shaft
CC = 1988
A = ? manufacturing run?

Does that tilt and trim unit look original? How are these numbers originaly attached the to transom mount?
