Rescued this boat from a neighbor and it's been sitting for a few years. Thinking it might be time to consider restoration, but can't really find any information on what exactly I have here. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Re: need help identifying Glasspar

Doug: That is a Glaspar G3 It is a very highly desirable and collectable hull from the 1970s or thereabouts. You should really consider restoring it. It is a fun Sunday ride and if you ever go to sell it, it is one of the very few boats that you will make back what you invested and possibly more. It is a 14 foot hull and I think it was rated for up to 90 horsepower. I am surprised you could not find any information on it. try the Glaspar site here on iboats and google Glaspar owners association. You should be able to find out all about your specific hull if you have the id number.

Thanks, Frank! I did try to Glasspar web site and was trying to guess by comparing pictures but wasn't seeing anything that looked just like it. I will try to find an ID # and go from there. I'm glad to know it's worth fixing because I think it will be a fun project!

The very first thing you need to know and fix is a tittle.

Glasspar.jpgDon't G-3's have those "sponsons" that stick out on either side near the stern? DSCN8588.jpg

Re: need help identifying Glasspar

We had a next door neighbor that bought one for his son. It had a white 55 horsepower Mercury, and it ran quite well. The son went to college in 1963, so I would say his was a 1961 model. I had another friend that had one with a big 75 hp Evinrude 4 cylinder motor.

The G3 is still quite popular and in demand as an "antique." The question is whether all your stringers are solid and if there are any soft spots?

Re: need help identifying Glasspar

All of this is helping me figure it out. Thanks so much. The ID # on stern is 914831/1000050161. I haven't found a way to decipher this. If I do, that might help with specifics, so if you have a resource for this, thanks! I'd like to keep it as close to original as possible. DMV wouldn't give me name of last person registered to - data privacy - but did say it was an untitled boat because of it's age and they would register with a written explanation of how it was acquired.
