Need Help Identifying My OMC Outdrive

I recently purchased a 1995 Four Winns Horizon 190 with Ford 5.0 L Carb and Omc Cobra Outdrive in really remarkable shape... However, I am having trouble identifying which Cobra Outdrive I have. Through all of my research, i am sure it is not the old style OMC dog clutch drive as my drive does have the "hump" on top and shifts with ease like a cone clutch would, however, looking at the Seloc manual and countless other posts on iboats, i have come across people who say that there are 3 possible drives for this model year boat, the old dog clutch OMC, an interim cone clutch OMC, and a later OMC cone clutch that is basically a Volvo SX with different badging. Is this correct, are there two possible cone clutch drives for this model year range... The numbers on the boat are as follows, Model # 3868156 and Serial # T0788800 and it is 1.66 Ratio... Any help is greatly appreciated, sorry no pics as the boat is stored far from home at the lake. Just looking to find out for future maintenance and parts considerations.

Post a picture of the drive and transom shield, that's usually the best way to find out.

Re: Need Help Identifying My OMC Outdrive

These are unfortunately the only pictures i have available, i hope they are helpful... Is it true that there are two separate models during these years that had cone clutches and both had omc markings, or was it just a single cone clutch model with omc markings??? Again thanks for any advice or thoughts.View attachment 110184View attachment 110185View attachment 110186View attachment 110187

That is the Volvo SX drive. That's a good thing.

OMC, in it's infinite wisdom did name 3 completely different drives King Cobra. Is it any wonder they went under.

Another good thing, if you had the desire (and the money, or lucky on ebay) you can convert that drive to a DuoProp drive by replacing only the lower unit and props.
