I am relatively new to outboard motors and just got a free montgomery wards motor made my gale products, its model number is GG18734B. If anyone can help with telling me the year it was made, the HP, if its two stroke or four, what kind of oil the lower unit takes, if it is two stroke what kind of oil do i mix with the gas, and etc. Any kind of help would be greatly greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Close as I can come is GG18734C.63 15hp.We have had trouble with that number before. You may want to check you haven't transposed any numbers.
If it is a 15 it will weigh about 75 lbs.It is a 2 stroke,uses 24:1 fuel mix 5.3ozs per gallon,1qt (32ozs) per 6 gallons.Use TCW3 rated out board oil,standard outboard gear lube.regular gas.Plugs are Champion J6C set at .030.Points set at .020.It shares many components with the Evenrude/Johnson motors of
that era. Many perts are availble right here at iboats under the Evinrude Johnson application.Check back with us on how to change the gear lube.

Thanks. That really really cleared up a few major questions I had. I have one more, the lower unit had a oil fill hole. Do I need to put oil all the way up to the bottom of the hole to where it almost flows out or is there a specific ammount to put in the lower unit? Thanks again!!!

You put the oil in the bottom plug till it comes out the top plug (motor in normal upright position). There is a handy little pump made for that purpose. Get it here at iboats. DO NOT remove the phillips head screw--that is not the oil plug.
