I was under the impression that my (new to me)1988 Astroglass 151 had the same year Johnson 40 hp engine.
I'm wanting to ensure it has the correct spark plugs in it.
It currently has NGK in it.
The model in the tag reads; J40ELCCS.
Can someone help a guy out?!!!
Thanks.

And the recommended spark plugs are Champion L78V Surface Gap, or QL77JC4 gapped at 0.030"

You don't say what NGK plugs are in there. BZ7HS-10 are the equivalent of QL77JC4

BUHW ( or BUHW-2 ) are equivalent to L78V

Thank you very much for the quick responses folks. Currently, the boat is 3hrs south of where I live. I happened to see they were NGK, but failed to remember the exact numbers. I'll check in 2-weeks when I'm back at the lake.
Thanks again for the facts on what should be in there. I just didn't want to melt a piston.
