I need some assistance shimming the drive gear on my Alpha 1 gen 2. I have the proper tools for this. What I would like is for someone who has done this before to show me how it's done, kinda look over my shoulder and give pointers etc.. Yes, I read the manual (the merc manual, not the seloc one) and have a pretty good idea about how it's done, but I don't want to get it wrong and wipe out the gears.

Willing to travel, and will pay in cash or beer...

Anyone out there willing to lend a hand?

Your local Mercruise dealer would probably be cheaper.

No dealer will touch it. As I understand, since they didn't get the work, they won't take the liability of setting the gears. The other thing, there is no one around here I trust. I am a new boater to this area, and do not have any friends who boat. There are a ton of marinas, but I don't know how to sift out the good from the bad. With out some form of "in", I'm just some shade tree joe who is looking for some form of handout or something. At least that's the jist of what someone told me today who does this kind of thing part time.

Just looking for some assistance...

I deal with Lime Lake Marina. I have for years. They're out in Delevan. They've always treated me right and are a bunch of really good people. Stay away from any of the shops on the water around Buffalo...they cater to big wallets and big boats.
