I have a 1981 Citation 19.5' bow rider. It has a 120hp Merc 4cy engine and MC-1 outdrive. I'm trying to figure how to mount a set of smart tabs on the back but I'm a little stumped. The transom has a bit of a flair from the chine to 12" inboard. From there it recesses in 2" and I have 26" from flair to centerline of drain hole. I could mount a set of tabs on the 26" area but I think it would be to far inboard as per instruction it should be 3" from chine.

What are my options on this? Is 12" inboard acceptable or is that to much? Am I forced to use a hydrofoil on this application? I was reading where some guys were building up the transom so it would be flat but they never posted the results. Any advice is welcomed.

Ayuh,... The hull has sorta a trim tab molded in,... The Smart tabs, what Width,..?? 12" or less,..??

I'd mount 'em directly on the little hickies, 'n adjust the actuator to compensate the differences in transom angles to get the desired effect,...

At worse, ya might need to shim the angle of the mountin' area,...
resin, 'n fillers can do that,...

Re: Need help mounting trim tabs

Per size chart my boat needs the 9.5"wide with the 60# actuators. Since the flair is 12"w those should mount correctly on it. So I should be ok then?

I'm with Bond-o, mount them on the flair section. You will just need to adjust the tab so it will compensate for the increased transom angle.
