Hi I have a 1973 Merc 650 I purchased it from a guy and he had trouble starting it initially but he got it all figure out by adjusting the round nut on the edge of the control cables before he connects it to both throttle and shift levers on the side. So in a short story I end up convince that this motor would run as it did without hesitation and multiple start while I was there watching him do it. Now I had it on my self made stand but I transported it to my house I disconnected the cable for easy transport, but then I tried to put it back on I had the same problem I guess that round nut could easily turns around and ends up on a different place not it wont start but again I manage to adjust it again it start on me, but then when I installed it to my boat the same thing happened but this time I had a hard time of figuring out how to adjust it properly on the motor. I followed some steps that I found it some forums but making sure the prop is in neutral before I connect and the throttle plate must be completely close before I connect the cable, but no luck of turning over the engine it just cranks up (fuel is good and coming out of the needle) but the engine would not turn over and start. I appreciate any help.
