I just bought the boat. The previous owner said that it started acting up about six months ago. He would be cruising at full throttle, and the boat would suddenly fall on it's face, going from ~35mph to ~10mph. It would then occasionally jump back to full power, and then fall over again. He would take it in, take it home, and next time he went out it would run great again for a little while, then do the same thing all over. He let it sit for a few months, and now it never runs at full power, it is in the 'falls on it's face' mode all the time.<br /><br />Where would you start? Spark, fuel? <br />He recently 'cleaned up' the carbs, didn't rebuild them. He has changed spark plugs, checked the plug wires, and minor obvious checks. Timer base, etc.<br /><br />When he first got the boat, he said it was doing something similar, and he replaced the power pack and problem was solved. He let it sit for a little while, went out, and the current problem started.<br /><br />Any help/ideas would be appreciated!<br /><br />Thanks!<br />Shawn
