I just took a 3.0l mercruiser out of my boat and found a mercruiser 120 h.p. for cheap. My engine is a 87 and theirs is a 78. Will it work on my outdrive and all? Mount in the same?
Never tried it, but you can expect some "gotchas" in any swap of engines of different years, but most of the problems MAY be cured by switching parts from one of your engines to the next.
