I am considering changing to a stainless steel prop. I have a Lowe FM175 that weighs about 1130 lbs. with a 115 4 stroke mercury on it. The boat has a 80" wide bottom. Currently I am running a 15 pitch Turning Point Hustler Aluminum prop. The diameter of the prop is 13 3/4". Wide open throttle on the mercury 115 is 6400rpm. I am achieving approx. 6300 rpm with a speed of 45 MPH. What SS prop do your recommend for my application and what pitch do you suggest? I would like to keep my top end RPM about the same if possible. thanks for your replies.

Re: Need help on picking the correct ss prop

When they are right a Hustler is a very effective prop delivering close to ss performance.
Your speed and rpm seem very good.I don't pretend to know the details but at 2 to 3 times the cost of the Hustler It will be difficult to select a prop to out perform it any serious amount. You might try fine tuning your setup. If you have no venting problems your motor likely needs to be raised. The antivent plate usually ends up even with or slightly above the bottom.
A couple of inches could net a couple of mph at no cost if you do it yourself.
The Hustler performs well when raising the motor.

Thanks Steelespike - I believe I will stay with the Hustler Alum Prop. Thanks for the reply.
