Need help please

My 1999 chaparral 5.0 mercruiser was running great then bogged down at full throttle now won't crank at all.i cleaned the carb not rebuild it just cleaned sometimes it starts most time it won't now.

Won't crank or won't start. There is a difference. If the starter is not "cranking" the engine that's one thing to look for. If the engine cranks but does not start that's a totally different set of potential issues. Not cranking can be starter, battery, battery cables, etc. Not starting is lack of spark (ignition), lack of fuel, too much fuel, to name just a couple things.

Cleaning the outside of a carburetor is useless.
