I'm replacing my deck in my malibu and pulled up the rotted floor. There is water in the voids were there it now foam, looks like it has been there for a while. Shouldn't there be a way for this to drain out in the event water does get in there, or should this be absoluletly water tight? I'll post pics tonight if that helps.

Thanks.

Should've been water tight from the git-go. Deck boards aren't your only problem. The foam is probably water logged as well. Grab a chunck from the lowest point and you'll see what I'm talkin about. Poured in foam is almost impossible to install without choking off areas for drainage. My $.02.

Dig it all out....you'll be a couple hundred pounds lighter if its wet. Assess your stringer condition. I absolutely refused to put more foam under my deck. Come up with an alternative that won't rot, like 2 liter bottles. Epoxy them to the hull so they don't rattle :) Wet foam will only help you sink fast, and rot the wood. You'll probably have to design your own water drainage channel under the deck.....the factory didn't worry about it, as that foam would be everywhere holding the water.

Thanks guys. I like the no foam idea. like you said, more places for water to sit. and, yes, one stringer needs to be replaced. No such thing as a simple project...

I have read somewhere around here, and I am doing myself, will be using swim noodles to fill voids.
