Need help setting up trailer

I have a 1985 ProLine 21WA. When I bought the boat it was on a single axle, aluminum frame trailer. It quickly became apparent to me that this boat was way TOO much for this trailer. So I sold the trailer it was on, and bought an older galvanized steel, tandem axle trailer. From what I was told by the seller, it had a 24 ft. Bayliner Cuddy on it. The frame is in good shape, and the axles are in good shape. I replaced the hubs, bearings, and tires.

My question..... I'm not sure how to go about setting this trailer up for my boat. The old set-up on this trailer used rollers and a couple of bunks. On the trailer it came on it was just a bunk setup.

If I were to post some pictures of the trailer and the boat could you guys help me out? I'm ready to get my boat off blocks and onto the trailer. I just have never done this before and don't want to make a mess of it.

Thanks,
E-

Re: Need help setting up trailer

We had to do this one time and here is haw we did it. We first divided the trailer in half by running a string from the center front to center back. This gave us the exact center of the trailer. That represents the center of the boat. Now from the back of the boat measure from the bottom center out to the first rib and transfer that measurement to the trailer. Now make a line from the two ribs on either side of the boat and measure from center bottom of boat up to the line and add 2 inches and also add the hight of the trailer from the ground. Now with that total measurement you know how high the bunks will be from the ground. Repeat these steps for more bunks. Then you get to make the same measurements for the front of the trailer. One other thing you have to make sure the center line of the trailer is the same hight from the ground at the front and back of the trailer. Once the boat is on the trailer you can fine tune every thing. This was done on a new trailer for an old boat.
