I need a simplified wiring diagram to install a trim switch solenoid. Have the new one but of course it doesn't look like the old one so I can't just move one wire at a time. have looked on the web but everything keeps showing either relays or 2 solenoids. Ours only has one solenoid. The one in the boat now is a round shape with 2 big bolts at the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock spots with 2 little bolts at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock. The new one is a newer Quicksilver model that is square shaped and has 2 small bolts side by side at the top with 2 big bolts in the center one on top of the other. Can anyone please help with this so that we can get back to the water soon? First pic is the similar to the old one and the one with the bright bolts looks like the new one.18-5814.jpg639763624.jpg

Electrically the solenoids are identical. The two large terminals are the same as the two large terminals on the old solenoid. It doesn't make any difference which terminals the large cables are connected to. The smaller two terminals are the energizing terminals and again, it makes no difference which way the two smaller wires are attached. The two large terminals are the "LINE" (input) and "LOAD" (output) power to the trim system. The two smaller terminals are active when the trim switch is pressed. One side is hot from the switch and the other goes to ground.

Re: Need help to get back on the water.

Im sorry I forgot to list what it was going on. We have a 77' Hydra-Sports 178Vee with a 77' Evinrude 115hp. I am having to change the solenoid because the trim switch will lower the motor but not raise it and our motor is sitting on a transom saver so its stuck until I get this fixed. Im just worried that I won't get it hooked up right and mess something else up. Found out the hard way that with a boat of this age there isn't much info on them out there. Even tried the company directly and was told they don't keep files that far back. Its a shame when the maker of your boat can't tell you how big the tank is installed in their boats.
