I was looking for a basic 14ft vhull so transform into a bass fishing boat. they come and go quickly around boston for $1k with trail/motor so picked this up in NH for $400. motor turns but doesnt start and looks to be in good shape. i just want to start fishingn this year and over winter see about putting some more into this and keeping it as it looks fun or if someone made me the right offer i would unload it and find another vhull.

curious what model it is neptune or s14.. strangly there is no model number onthe badge its smooth as can be but serial is there.

would like to know what i have and what are basic cost to fix it up..
thinking about paint the top front red, blue who knows. maybe paint the bottom and side white or leave aluminum, windshield i see runs about $300. has steering wheel but not hooked up and no motor connections.

thanks guys.

Bill

Re: Need help to identify boat and motor

Hey Bill! You've got a Sealine, that's for sure. Whether an S14 or other...need measurements. Send the length, both from the nose straight to the back, and, from the nose following the curve of the gunwale back to the corner. Send both of those lengths, also the beam (widest part side to side), and also the depth (center of the floor up to the height of the gunwales). These measurements will help determine the exact model.

As for the year...the 19k serial says 1957, but, underneath that greenish paint...is there any baked on vinyl? Or does this appear to be paint over bare aluminum? This may be a boat built in '56 and not tagged & sold until '57 as a '57.

Once you provide measurements, I can provide the model and perhaps some specs for you.

Re: Need help to identify boat and motor

thx Joe i will get those numbers though i do know it is 13ft from nose straight back as i had to register it and needed the lenght, also the green is a baked on vinyl. I am currently sanding the outside and inside for new paint and gluvit *minor leak up front but not bad. Curious though i will use this more for fishing i want to remove the top and replace it with a smaller stonger wood version running about 12-15" back from nose back to still give it some support. I dont want to ruin the current piece as i might want to add it back in a yr or 2. Has anyone succesfully removed this easily? i figure i could drill out the rivets. But then again i might just leave it as is for a place to store items underneath but it would reduce the foot print for moving around and fishing to 2 people and not 3.

Re: Need help to identify boat and motor

Need to know what color the vinyl is. If it's vinyl, it must be a pinkish-red underneath that green paint. '57 was the first year for the vinyl decking, and that was the color. Look for pink/red.

If it's 13 feet nose to stern on a straight line, that's good enough.

Yes, the decking can be removed by drilling out the rivets, and the good thing is that removing these does NOT affect the structural integrity - so said the gentleman which engineered these and owned the company. (he told me this himself when he was still alive). And yes, other guys have removed the decking.

i just bought the same model. it's vinyl is actually reddish orange. but i painted my boat dark green and coffee colors because it was not that great looking anymore. At least you don't have a massive hole like i did. also you should fix that shark nose shaped piece in the bow.

well it is vinyl, green but reddish under it as i scraped it off. applied gluvit and some paint to make this into a bass boat. I cut back to top front as it was beat up , but i did keep the alum i cut out. hopefully people wont be too mad at me.

Nah, nobody is mad. I always think it's a bummer that someone would take a cool runabout and hack off the decking...but it must be that there are not enough utility boats around and available. Plus hey, it's yours and you can do what you like with it. ;-)
