need help troubleshooting ignition...

So I'm trying to get this evinrude to crank over on it's stand.
I've got most all of the wiring hooked up that I think is related to ignition.
When I turn the key to the start position, I hear a quiet buzzing sound coming from the solenoid here...but nothing else happens.

I've checked connections and ensured that everything is tight.
I unhooked the battery and checked to ensure that the starter could freely move, and it can. I forget, but isn't there some way to hot wire that solenoid and by pass it?

What am I overlooking or doing wrong?
Here are a couple of other pictures to hopefully answer any other questions you have.

Right now I'm not supplying any fuel. I just want to see if I can get it wired to crank over and then I can video checking the compression. From there I will try and get fuel to it.

In this picture, it shows the neutral safety wires in yellow/black. They are currently connected to satisfy that safety...as well as the engine IS in neutral, verified.

The red wire coming off the circular object, I have no idea, but it is hot ignition only. (someone feel FREE to tell me what that is!....PLEASE!)
The gray wire heading off the top of the picture, I don't know either.

I kept on digging on line and figured out how to jumper the solenoid.
The starter spins, but doesn't slide up to engage the flywheel. ??

Grey wire- tach feed, round object could be overheat buzzer. Is the battery good? if it is then either the solenoid is the issue or the starter bendix could be sticking. IN order to trouble shoot work from the starter back, you can disconnect the starter from the solenoid and jump it directly to the battery using jumper cables.

After you figure out how to jump the starter direct from a battery, pull the plugs before you jump it over...as an initial check on the starter. If it will engage and turn the flywheel with the plugs out, but not with the plugs in, you probably have a weak starter...no need to chase wires if you have it wired according to a factory/manufacturer wiring diagram.

I'm using the secondary battery out of my boat. It's not 100%, but it will start my boat if I have it switched to only that battery. So it should be strong enough to start this one too.

I'll give that other stuff a shot as well.

Thanks!

That is not a factory starter solenoid, perhaps its an automotive one which has a different wiring pattern. Get the OEM type solenoid and try again.

It seems that the battery isn't strong enough to turn this starter. Go figure.
I hooked the jumper cables up to the battery and to my truck, and it cranks it over. But for some reason I have no spark to any of the cylinders. I checked spark on each one. Next on my track down list....lol. Geez!
