I went to replace my entire water pump housing and I come to find out my lower unit might have been replace by the previous owner. I took the numbers off of the housing (0C508233) and gave them to the marine shop and they gave me the kit which the white base in the photos came in. As you can see it is different then the original black base in the photos. The problem is the white base doesn't go over the blue seal as shown in my drive photo. So the question is does anyone by chance know of the part number or what serial number of the drive the original black base may have come off of? I have looked all over the internet and through several different service manuals and cannot find anything that matches.

Thank.s

No Title

They sold me Sierra part #18-3320 which appears to be correct if you run the serial number off of the upper unit. The lower unit may or may not have been swapped out with another. When I look through the Mercruiser part catalogue I am find part number 44292A3 which is shown in the photo below. What I am wonder if my base came off with that blue piece still in the drive. (See my drive photo in the OP). The blue piece is in the drive pretty tight so I don't want to rip something out that should be there. I all the service manuals I have seen that blue piece isn't called out, just the bearings below which makes me believe the blue piece in the drive is part of the pump base. I am just trying to confirm this.

that's because part of the black base is broken off ,the blue piece .was supposed to be attached to the base.

Thanks BT.....yeah I was able to figure it out. I was able to pry the blue piece out last night. It appears the OEM part is built in two pieces and the Sierra part is one solid piece. Got it all put back together and will be installing the drive tonight.
