need help wiring new tachometer

120hp 1990 force....my old teleflex tach hardly ever worked...i found this new faria 20 pole on ebay ..so i bought it.. but it seems the wiring and connectors are different..is there anyway i can get this new one working? how would i wire it?? i just replaced almost my entire electrical system..big $$..i'd hate to wire something wrong and fry it again lol here are some pics.<br /><br />the top blue wires are connected to a pole that says (LT)...the black wires are connected to the bottom middle pole that says (GRND) and the left purple says (IGN) and the right purple says (SEND)<br /><br />

<br /><br /><br />now the new one is a bit different....at the top that is a slot connector..would this be where the blue wires go ? then one pole that says (SIG)..next pole says (GND)..other pole says (BAT) and the far right pole has no label....<br /><br />

LT teminal is for the light in the tach, should be the unlabeled terminal on the new tach.<br /><br />GRND = GND = Ground = black wire<br /><br />SEND should be 12volt power from the ignition switch and should conned to the BATT terminal on the new tach.<br /><br />ING = ignition pulse signal from the engine, should connect to the SIG teminal on the new tach.

ok.. i wired it up like that...but when i crank engine the needle goe to the max 7000 rpm and stays there.....any ideas?

i'm kinda scared to reverse the purples dont want to short out anything....<br /><br />i called faria today the guy said to switch it too the 12pole ....i told him forces were 20 pole....what ya think?

Force 120hp motors were 20 pole through 1991.<br />You can try switching it to 12, but doubt it will do a thing.<br /><br />What great support Faria had to offer you.
