Here is one for the experts. I have a 1989 Celebrity BR181 witha 4.3 liter Mercruiser Alpha 1. Air cover says 175hp. The serial number for the motor has been removed from both the air cover and the bell housing. I want to get a carb rebuild kit. The only number on the carb tag is 3304-9565. On the left side of the carb is 33049565 with 8701 under that. It is a two barrel with an electric choke. Other than that, I can find no other markings. Help me please!! Thanks all!

Dan

Re: Need Help With a Carb

Hello Dan,

It's probably a 2 barrel mercarb. Mercruiser used 2 types of carbs. One being a mercarb 2 barrel with one mixture screw located on the front center bottom of the carb. The other is a 2 barrel rochester marine version. This one has 2 screws. The number 3304-9565 sounds like a 2 barrel mercarb and as I can remember with mine, there was an updated plunger change. Call a distributor and they can narrow it down for you.
Chuck
