I have looked and looked and cant seem to find the answers I am looking for. We have an 83 OMC 120hp engine that runs great, and then we might possibly buy a boat that has a 83 Merc 120 hp engine with the Alpha Drive. Both motors are form the same year, and they are both a chevy inline 4 design. The merc has a cracked block and has water in the oil. Can the Merc be taken out and the OMC put in its place? I know the Exhaust systems are proabably different and the harness is proabably different. What I really need to know is if I can bolt the drive up to the OMC motor, and if the motor mounts will work with the OMC motor. I kinda need to know quick since the boat in question is being sold so cheap and might be gone to soon.
