Need help with adding an onboard charger

Sorry if this has been covered before many times but I can't seem to find the answer I am looking for. I currently only have a starting battery but am looking to add a deep cycle for a trolling motor.

The question I have is should I use a 1 bank charger just for the deep cycle battery or can I get a 2 bank and hook it up to the starter as well to keep it charged? I can't see a problem with it but wanted to ask anyway.

That's why they make one, two, three, and even four bank chargers. 1 battery, 1 bank. 2 batteries, 2 banks. 3 batteries -- well, you get the point.

Thanks.

I have asked dumber questions in my life.......but not by much. I have never used an onboard charger before and although I didn't think it would make a difference with the different types of batteries, I felt the need to ask.
