When checking the strainer I broke the strainer body while trying to put the cap back on(PLASTIC)I tried to epoxy the piece back together without any luck! So I went to a shop and bought a like new used body to replace the broken one (70 BUCKS).At the bottom of the base I had trouble installing. There was a rubber gasket that if I tried to slip onto before connecting I could not get the base down far enough to connect.I now this might seem confusing but I'll try to answer any questions.thanks

I am not very good with my computer.I have the diagram from a Clymersbook in front of me but It doesnt show how the part is to fit.The part is called 10. Seal ring on the diagram it shows the heat exchanger cover.with a seal ring .then a part called a 11.Spacer sleeve. Then another Seal ring on top of that. Then the 7.Strainer housing.I tried putting the seal ring on different ways but no matter what I did it didn't come together.

I've got the picture in front of me.

Maybe the seals are bloated and old. it should just push down into the heatexchanger. Or maybe you got the wrong strainer housing. Try it first without the seals, just to see if it fits.

Hey Dunaruna thanks for helping! The housing is exactly the same.Still have the old one. When I bought the new one I got two smaller rubber seals(12.O-rings)they are the same for both the water inlet and outlet. The shop never gave me the bottom seal ring. I tried everything to make it go together but I didn't want to force it too much(plastic)!! So then I tried to install it WITHOUT the seal ring.It finally all came together.Out on the water @ WOT some leaking occured from the bottom. It isnt much at all but It would be nice for something to go right on this boat at least once.Ha HA ! The guy at the shop told me when I put the housing together to use silicone along with the seals.Should I try to squeeze out a gasket for the bottom of the housing as well?

Thanks Don S. The #10 on the top is the seal ring I had a problem with.I mounted the body without using it.Not normally what I would try but it was the only way everything would fit back together. As I stated there is a leak coming from that spot now.Very little any options or ideas from you guys would be great THANKS AGAIN.

Can anybody tell me the right way to assemble this strainer body?Does the #10 in diagram above go over the #11 and then put body on or what?

Re: need help with aq125a problem!!!!!

There should be two #10's one on each side of #11.
Make sure the old ones are removed and every thing is nice and clean. Then install the new parts.
A little bit of dish washing liquid is all that is necessary to lubricate the seals during installation. The seals themselves do the sealing when installed properly.

Hey Don I am going down to the boat tommorrow to try again.I just want to make sure I have got the right idea.First I am going to put the seal(#10)onto #11.Then I am going to lube up seal with dish soap. Then try to slip body onto the base.Does that sound right? thanks
